Entrance Hall Big enough to fit a house within its four walls, the Entrance Hall is lit by flaming torches charmed to survive the harsh winds that blows in via the oak front doors when opened. Suits of armour stand guard by the front doors, facing the marble staircase on the opposite end of the hall. To the right of the front doors are the double doors giving in to the Great Hall while to the left can be found a long corridor leading to the staff room, the caretaker's office, classrooms and the courtyard. The staircase descending towards the basement can be found on the left side of the marble staircase behind a door; the staircase descending to the dungeons is on the right side. Great Hall Four long tables stretch along the whole length of the room, ending a few feet away from two stairs leading up to the front stage. Benches fitting eight students - though it can easily squeeze ten if wanted - are aligned on both sides of the tables. The room's back wall is formed of stones and two large windows; while the other walls are made entirely of stone. Hanging from gargoyles strategically placed around the room are golden plates bearing small fires to help the thousands and thousands of floating candles lit up the area. The ceiling is bewitched to appear like the sky above it and thus gives the impression to all new students that the Great Hall has no ceiling at all. Somewhere in the ceiling are true roofless areas permitting owls of all sizes bearing mail to soar in and deliver their bearing to the owners. Slytherin students will find their table closest to the doors, while Gryffindor ones will find theirs across the hall to both parties happiness. Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff share the center of the hall; Ravenclaw being neighbours to Slytherin and Hufflepuff to Gryffindor. Upon the small stage sits the staff table, facing the other tables. In the center is the headmaster's chair and just beyond the staff, to the right, is the door leading to the antechamber where the portrait of Violet hangs.	RSS Email	42	531	Re: 1980 Welcomin...
