He wondered how things had gotten so bad that one girl  could affect him in such a way – whether good or bad. And that was Caitlin. She brought out both good in him and bad. Well, only bad now. But he wouldn’t say it was bad. She made him stronger in a way…a way that made it so he no longer wanted to be walked over. Trent had grown up a lot in the last couple of years. He was a different boy than the one that had dated Caitlin.

Trent only spared one glance at her before he returned his gaze to the ceiling. Right now he wasn’t sure if he really wanted to go into this anymore with her. He didn’t know why he kept talking to her. It wasn’t doing either of them any good. Right now he just wanted to sleep, but he also was curious about where this was going as well. He heard her movements but didn’t bother to look at her not even when she started speaking to him again, very quietly.

"I don't know what it'll take, but I'll make it up. To you…And to you, Nat."

“Somehow I doubt that,” he told her in a sarcastic tone. “Nothing you can do can make up for what you did.” He snorted. “Don’t bother trying. It’ll just bloody piss me off.” He looked after her. “Besides…you’re not even worth it anymore. I have better things to do with my time than trying to figure out what you’re thinking.”
