When someone started towards him his first instinct was to pull his wand and hex, but he maintained the entire Head Boy drill and held himself together as she approached. He was glad he did so because hexing a tiny girl like Caitlin would have made him look like an idiot. He certainly didn’t want to look like an idiot. He brushed his hand over his hair, a stupid habit he inherited from his father, and waited until she was closer before he gave a slight and soft hello. He was pathetic as a Head Boy. Then he started talking about monsters and werewolves and couldn’t stop his mouth even when it was begging him to end it.

"You don't really think...I mean, they'd not have us patrol were we might get hurt. No, they wouldn't. That would be stupid,"

“Or they just want us to think they don’t exist…that way when something attacks us they can’t be held liable…” He added, and then felt himself deal with a bit of guilt.

He didn’t want her to be scared, but honestly, patrolling around the forest wasn’t a joy ride. It was filled with things he never wanted to witness, and it always seemed that he ended up on the outskirts of the place he hated the most. Sometimes he hated the fact that he ever became a Prefect in the first place. Now as Head Boy he had no excuse to run away.

“Well, ok then.” He murmured, as she confirmed who she was. Then she continued with her questions and he felt himself getting overwhelmed again. Seriously, what had Dumbledore seen in him? “Well…” he stuttered, shifting his eyes to the dark and back, “No, we don’t really see werewolves or crap like that, but I’m not saying it’s going to be a nice time. Usually we see something sketchy and …” in the past he had always run back to the castle. But in the past he had always been paired with a boy, “ Look I’ll keep you safe if your worried, but honestly the forest at night is kinda pretty,” he gestured to the clouds overhead, “Look how illuminating that is.” Without waiting for her answer he lifted the camera around his neck and took a photo.
