“But if we went away somewhere he wouldn’t find you. We could hide. I mean we could make sure he didn’t know…”

He was shaking his head and tipping his head back, gulping down some of his beer. There was no such thing as hiding from a man like Lamont. It just wasn’t possible. Maybe they could do it for a while but his past would eventually come back to haunt him. Jeremy would not be able to escape it. Never. And his biggest regret was having dragged Magda into this life.

“Let’s get out of here…go far away and not worry about anything but our family…We could make it somewhere else if we wanted to…we’d just have to go now and never look back…”

If he had been worried before, he was very much worried now. And if it wasn’t her insistence on getting away from Lamont, then it was the tears that he saw forming. What had brought this on? Jeremy was really trying hard not to panic but she wasn’t really giving him a lot to go off of.

“I’m pregnant.” She fought back a sob, “ I’m pregnant and I don’t want you going back to Azkaban or anywhere else like last time…and I’m scared. I’m scared you are going to mess up again and leave me alone and I don’t know what else to do.”

His heart stopped. Pregnant. She was pregnant? A grin split his features. Another baby. They were having another baby! “Are you serious?” he said before pulling her in for a hug. He put his hand on either side of her face and kissed her lips several times. “That’s what all of this about? I can’t believe it. Another baby!” His face grew concerned. “How are you feeling? Are you alright? How far along are you?” he asked her before his face clouded over. “Oh, hell, Magda!” Shit. THAT’s what this was about. “Nothing’s going to happen, alright? I’m not going anywhere. I’m not going to mess up again. I  promise.” He kissed her forehead and couldn’t help but smile. “A baby."
