He was trying to say more, to ask more, and Ava wasn’t going to have it. She would not be polite and considerate. Her family was a taboo subject. Of course ffleurbert had no idea about this. His questions were completely innocent, but he would learn soon enough. And hopefully she wouldn’t have to say anything about it. Hopefully he would just figure it out on his own. Because Ava did not want to have to go into that with him. She wouldn’t. So she kept interrupting him and changing the conversation. Which seemed to work.

“So.. erm.. well, yes. Ah. Quidditch. Fine game. Uh. I don’t play of course, because… because…Well, to be honest, my darling little sweet-pea, I don’t fly. I am the world’s worst broom-handler….”

She listened, nodding and being considerate. Quidditch was very important to a lot of students at the school. In fact it was an obsession. She enjoyed it just not that much. Ava rubbed his arm. “Well, it’s not for everyone,” she assured him.

“Do you want me to take you to the matches or something? I shall. No difficulty. Only…well.” “You’ll have to explain it to me. Skrumpkin tried but gave up the first time I asked him why. He said if I didn’t understand that, I’d never understand at all, so he gave up and I gave up and … well, that was that.”

Avaline laughed. “I’ll try my best,” she told him. “I only know the basics but I’ll do what I can. “ She pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I mean…we don’t have to go to every match if you don’t want to. I’m sure we can think of others things to do.” She grinned. “We would have the run of the whole castle probably. Just the two of us. Lots of room for lurking."
