Ashby strode towards the pitch, his quidditch robes tucked under his arm as he cheerfully whistled the Hogwarts school song. Nothing could ruin his mood today. His team had stomped the Hufflepuffs in the ground. Even without the snitch being caught, Ashby was quite sure they would've won on score alone. It had also been the best match that Ashby had played as beater, his arms still aching from fending off bludgers. He had even managed to knock the Hufflepuff seeker from the sky once. Unfortunately, the girl had managed to steady her broom before hitting the ground. Still, the whole thing was quite spectacular.

Their win would have been far more sweeter if his stupid brother actually cared about quidditch. Then again, the loss of his house had to hurt. With that, Ashby's smile grew wider, all those poor little bumblebees, dejected and forlorn while the snakes celebrated.

After dropping off his folded up clothes in the locker room, Ashby walked out to the pitch. It was silent except for the sound of the flags whipping in the breeze. Her saw moment farther on down the pitch as a blonde witch on broom was making laps.

Tessa.

He wasn't that surprised. When they had let girls on the team, he had been admittedly opposed to it. After all, just because the other houses had bucked that tradition didn't mean that Slytherins had followed suit. When tryouts had occurred, she had been the first one in line. Honestly, Ashby had figured she'd break a nail and that'd do her in. She'd go back to embroidery and dancing or whatever pureblood girls did. When she came back to second practice, Ashby purposely sent a bludger her way. Then a few more for the third practice. It had been that practice that one had hit her full on. She got back to playing though. Ashby wasn't beyond admitting he was just a bit impressed.

Still girls weren't meant to be on the quidditch pitch. Even so, Tessa at least did her damn job. She was partially to thank for the win today. Ashby grabbed a spare broom and kicked off the ground, flying towards her.

"You're in my way."

"I'd like to see you make me move," Ashby challenged the blonde girl, a smirk on his mouth and his eyes alight with challenge.
