Mack was good at reading people. It was because she spent so much time alone and watching others that she developed a knack for it. Godfrey would always be a harder one for her to read, though. He was always so damn cheerful and optimistic that sometimes it was too thick for her to see through.

There was no seeing through him tonight and down to his worry, though. Mack was too focused on what was in front of her. She was too excited to worry about things like finances. If she started working again, after all, they wouldn’t have to worry about that.

Still, Mack melted into her husband’s kiss. The moment it was finished, though, she was back to focusing on the information that was in front of her. “Yeah, she’s been good…for once.” Again, she was distracted.

“So what’s all this then? Cleaning out your bits and pieces?”

She didn’t respond right away, too busy studying a map. Finally she looked at her husband. “Here, go to Daddy,” she said, kissing Thomas on the forehead before handing him over to Godfrey. She kissed her husband on the lips once.

“Not cleaning out, studying.” She grinned at him. “They want me back? There’s this dig…Armenia or somewhere. They want to help out. They’ve sent me all the information.” She held up the pieces of parchment, the maps and the pages of runes. “They want me there as early as next week, though really they would happy if I got there tonight.”
