It sounded terrible because Sioni would be there. Because every day would be spending time with the other wives who she hated. Because Sioni would be there, he would be so close she could touch him every hour of the day that they were not practicing or playing for every trip they took. Esperanza sat down delicately on the edge of the bed, before scooting in a bit closer to him. It sounded horrible because Kaleb would be drinking with his team mates every night, chances were, and the person he was when he drank was less tolerable than sober, bossy Kaleb. And Also Sioni would be there. With her, in a hotel, while her husband was down getting drunk, Sioni would be dragging her in to his own room. Or worse yet, she would have to sit and discuss how difficult children and husbands were with Sioni's future wife. None of those things were really acceptable sounding to her.

But she could not say any of that to Kaleb. He would probably take it the wrong way and spend the next eleven years making Sioni's life a living hell. And that was with out knowing that Charlie was Sioni's Daughter.

"I've never really liked hotels." She answered. "And I don't need to eat the best food and spend our money on expensive things. I've seen the world, and its wonderful, but I would much rather stay home and read than travel. And besides, I couldn't stand being in the same place as half your teammates wives… girlfriends… lovers… whatever. for that long." She scooted a little closer to him on the bed, taking his head and placing it in her lap, fingers tracing through his hair. "And besides, then your girlfriends… lovers… whores… whatever couldn't go with you. You'd miss them too much."
