“Je’n sais pas. Mais il droit avoir une manière.”

Mack stared and then made a face. She forgot that he knew French too. She sighed. It was so much to be angry with him for being a jerk. But Godfrey was never a jerk. He was always calm and collect. He thought things through. He didn’t give way to emotion. That was not to say that he wasn’t emotional. He was. He just didn’t let it get in the way of him thinking clearly. Mack did that enough for the both of them. And when he took her hands, there was nothing she could do but relax. He just had that kind of effect on her.

“As if that were ever going to happen,”

“But you just said,"

“But I’ve never seen a situation where it’s ever ‘all or nothing’. Let’s think about this, and see what’s possible, before either of us give up, alright?”

She tilted her head to the side. “We have thought about it.” Mack groaned, sighed, and listened. At least he agreed that Liam was a last resort. The two were cordial but Mack had a feeling that Godfrey, despite his generosity with kind words toward him, would have liked to be not so nice. But he was too nice for that.

“…Let’s say we can manage four days between your family and my mother? We’ll find out first, and then you ask your lot if four days a week would be enough to start, with maybe an extra day thrown in from time to time until we get things sorted.”

Mack sighed. “I can ask my mother how much she would be willing to watch them. I can ask my father if he would be willing to help pay for a nanny. But, since I’m talking to him now, he may not be as desperate to make me happy as he was before.” She shrugged. It was a fact. Her and her father were always going to be distant. But then again, her father was quite eager to help her, to get on her good times even now. Mack didn’t know that she could trust that to last however.

“I’ll ask work too. They were willing to do it before I even worked for them. I don’t know how they wouldn’t be willing now.” She shrugged and squeezed Godfrey’s hands. Her breathing was back to normal and her anger was dying down. Trust Godfrey to be the cause for both.

She laughed. “Right. A nanny by ourselves. We’ll really be living the dream them,” she teased. It wasn’t that they were poor. But it wasn’t that they were rich either. They were getting by. That was enough for Mack. She didn’t need expensive things. Merlin knew that Christmas got enough of that from Liam. But she did need stability. And apparently that was up in the air right now.

“…And tell then you need… let’s say a week to set things up. And if they need you full time..”

Mack shook her head. “No. I wasn’t going to do full time. Maybe weekends or something like that. Or a few days every other week. I don’t want to be away from you that long.” She leaned forward and kissed him.

“Do you have any idea how sexy you are when you in French? Or was that your way to make sure you got around me?”

“A little of both,” she told him before giving him a lengthy kid. She pulled away and sighed. “I could really go for a babysitter tonight.” Mack smirked and looked him in the eye. “The things I want to do to you,” she murmured, her eyes wavering on the children. She kissed him again to give him some idea. “And that’s not even close to it,” she whispered in his ear.

Mack stood up and took Thomas with her, kissing him on top of the head. “If you love me speaking French, you should see some of the French lingerie that I have yet to break out.” She bounced the baby as he got fussy. They may end up with another child if she were to do that. She smirked over at him.
