Kate had moved across an ocean in order to meet and marry a man she didn't know.  That seemed a wild decision, but it wasn't one she'd arrived at lightly.  She'd had certain expectations about what it would be like to be betrothed.  She'd been prepared for days of jet lag and endless bad food.  She'd been presented on arrival with a new closet full of dress robes and cold weather fashions.  Never had any of those expectations included getting married in her blue jeans and favorite cream sweater after only a month.

She didn't imagine any of the families involved were going to be very happy with her or...her husband.  Still, they'd only brought her over and told her to marry Nat. They'd not said when or how.  So here she was, two hours after the world's most perfunctory wedding ceremony, slim finger encircled with gold, about to meet the creatures Nat prized above all others.

"I'm not here to check on Grete. I'm introducing the kids to my wife. Kate Warwick. Thats with a K."

"Hi."  Kate nodded to the receptionist.  Did the other woman look suspicious, or was she projecting her doubts on other people?  The new bride rubbed the ring on her finger with her thumb.  "It's sure a pleasure to meet you."

What if the dragons didn't like her?  He'd already announced her as his wife, it'd be pretty difficult to get out now.  It was possible he'd just feed her to the dragons, although she didn't really expect he'd do that, if only because he was so careful charting how much he fed them.

"Ready, love?"

Kate took a quick stock of herself.  Long hair, still coiled up behind her head.  Shoes...maybe less than ideal.  What sort of shoes did one wear when their plans included both marriage and dragons?  At least they weren't heels.  She'd not applied any new lotion this morning, thinking the scent might be over powering to the animals, but up close the faint scent of gardenias clung to her skin, remnants of a long standing regime.

"I think so?" Honestly facing down dragons wouldn't be the most nerve wrecking thing she'd done today.  Nat himself looked much more excited about the dragons than the nuptials, and she couldn't help grinning at his obvious enthusiasm.  Dragons were interesting, Nat with Dragons was also adorable.  "I can transfigure my shoes if you think I should."  She frowned, because that was not necessarily true.  She could try anyway.
