What was written on the board always appeared one of his parchment pages. That had been something that Professor Flitwick had sorted out during Daniel’s first year there. He had gotten paired up with Joel Watkins for famous vampires. For the first time all year, Daniel was actually looking forward to the assignment that his uncle had presented to the class to do. This was something that was actually interesting and he didn’t have to worry about looking like a fool in front of his peers. Though he had gotten really good at throwing up shields but that had been because of Lizzie’s tutoring and not his uncle’s. He cringed slightly when he found that Ashby and Tessa were paired together. Honestly, what was his uncle thinking? Those two had never gotten along, even when they were little. If anything, the animosity between the two had gotten worse. There was no good that was going to come out of this pairing. They’d be lucky to get through it with very little bloodshed.

Daniel walked up to the book shelf and accioed the book. When Joel joined him at his desk, Daniel started right in on the project.

“Well, there’s Dracula, of course, Count Vlad Dracul and his son, Vlad the Impaler, even though there’s still some disagreement about whether or not he was actually a vampire or not. Elizabeth Barony is another good one, she bathed in the blood of maidens to achieve eternal youth,” he pointed out. He had always liked history and had a knack for remembering dates and people.

“There are others, of course. But those are the three most famous...or two depending on how you feel about the Impaler. How many do you think he wants?” he asked Joel. If Joel thought that he had any insight to what his uncle wanted, then he was sorely mistaken.

“Damn Vampires.”

He didn’t know what was going on and wasn’t quite sure he actually wanted to know. Daniel sighed and shook his head. “They are going to kill each other,” he commented in a matter of fact kind of way. Maybe Joel would be able to stop them before it got too far. One could always hope.
