He watched her a long moment after she had her little fit and then, with a very grand gesture of his hand, he indicated Professor Babbling, clearly in the room and clearly not going anywhere. 

"Seems to me, she's a witness," he said, trying to not grind his teeth. Merlin! "If you're expecting a full audience of our classmates, you can forget that," he added. "And here. Let's take away all your bloody fear, yeah?"

Very slowly, and carefully, he pulled his wand from his robes. Not once did he grip it properly or point it in her direction as he slowly laid it on the table next to him. And then he took three large steps away from the poplar wand. In truth, over the last year, the wand hadn't been performing all that well for him; maybe doing something as humiliating as apologizing to his nemesis might help.
