"I won't need that much time," he assured her. His father hadn't given a time requirement on his apologies, only that he apologize. And only that he sound sincere when doing it. How he was going to sound sincere with Jane when he didn't want to apologize, he had no idea. Perhaps, were he a Slytherin, it would come as second nature, but Connor, until this last year, had never been anything but entirely honest and sincere with everyone.

Dragging up the effort it had taken him to lie to everyone for a year, he huffed out a breath, rubbed a hand over his neck and swore lightly to himself before glancing up at Jane from under his brows.

"I," he started, huffing a light breath and the trying again. "I want to apologize. For what I did. For...hexing you. I have no excuse for it. You don't have to forgive me, but I wanted to apologize."

How he managed to not just burst out laughing at the end of that, he didn't know. How he managed to draw the attempt at a heartfelt almost smile to his face, he didn't know. But he gave her his very best I'm-scum-and-I-know-it look.
