Why didn’t she trust him then?

"Don't plan to go near you," he said.

“Good. Likewise.” But he took her hand just the same. Good. Because now when he broke his word, as he almost certainly would, she would hold him to this, and make sure that Tony, and Elf and Gloria - especially Gloria - knew what kind of lying toad he was.

If Professor Babbling hadn’t been there she would have had her wand out before he reached his, but she was willing to risk that he wouldn’t hex her with a Professor there. She watched him leave the room in sience. She doubted he had even listened to what she had said about Gloria. He never istened. He was only interested in himself; what he was going to say. Well, she would keep her word. She wouldn’t tell Gloria anything he had done, unless she asked. She would just ignore him.

But let her catching him on the Quidditch pitch, or out of bounds or up after curfew, she would throw the book at him. And if Gloria asked why, then she would hear the truth about her boyfriend. The whole truth.
