Continued from Cold Season

“I’m sure Ashby or Cora would be completely understanding if you asked for someone to cover you.“Well, since you don’t have a partner, I think you should just go to the Hospital Wing tonight.

Part of her wanted desperately to argue with Tony. She had a duty to uphold and Merlin only knew that Callum wasn’t going to uphold his end of the prefecting duty unless she was there to prod him into it. No, not prod. Drag him kicking and screaming. He didn’t even wear his badge! Why he didn’t have any respect for the position was beyond her. Didn’t he know how important it was to keep everyone safe and guide the youngest students? Though, she didn’t mind him missing him making snide remarks. Neither would she miss him asking for a goodnight kiss or some such rubbish like they had been out on a date and not patrolling. If she glared at him or started dressing him down, he would this amused look on his face which just made the situation worse.

Going to the hospital wing also meant acknowledging how sick she actually was. Maybe it would just be a quick fix, a simple potion and that’d be it. It didn’t feel like a quick fix though. It felt like she was going to fall asleep on her feet, hack up a lung or freeze to death. Granted, she probably should’ve taken better care of her health and not skipped meals and gotten enough sleep.

“Let’s go,” she capituatulated. She took another glance at the closed door. The herculean task of straightening out Callum would have to wait for another day.

The trip to the hospital wing seemed to take forever, it felt like she was walking all the way to Hogsmeade instead of just down a few flights of stairs. She had to pause a couple of times and turn away from Tony to cough. She was rather thankful that he hadn't listened to her and avoided being around her least he caught this cold. Without his prompting, she knew that she would wait for the last minute.

Madam Pomfrey answered the door after Tony knocked.

“Sorry to bother you so late,” she wheezed. It really wasn’t that late but she felt like she needed to say something out of politeness and not simply go ‘I’m sick, let me in’.

“I can’t shake this cold or flu,” she explained so the healer wouldn't think that she was not only disturbing her but she wasn't wasting the older woman's time.
