Her mistake did not occur to her immediately. No, as the spell was cast, Tanya was still confident that it was the correct incantation, and the idea that it wasn't never crossed her mind. The doubt came, unsurprisingly, when the seventh year suddenly slid off the arm of the chair. She looked down at him blankly, not comprehending what on earth was going on. It was in that moment that the proverbial flash came upon the Ravenclaw; Canto.... Oh, yobany stos. The translation of the Russian phrase was best left to the imagination, really. Tanya was loathe to curse in English, even when such an action was deemed necessary, and besides - it all sounded much better in Russian. Her father, upstanding gentleman though he was, hadn't quite realized his daughter was lurking around quite as much as she was.

Ooooh.... my loooooove, And with that, Tanya died.

Well, no, she didn't. She just wanted to. Really, desperately, wanted to not be alive anymore. Her eyes resembled saucers, meeting Billy's own shocked gaze, and she managed to want to die even more. The words he'd sung thus far were a bad sign. She knew this song. She, of course, LOVED this song. That somehow managed to make it all the worse, and she found herself hugging her knees, face hidden except for her eyes.

My darlin, Ive hungered - HUNGERED - for your touch a long, lonely time...

It just wasn't fair. Tanya was asking the ground to open up and swallow her in the nicest way possible, and the stupid ground simply wouldn't comply. It wasn't a lot to ask for, really. She winced as the second 'hungered' was belted out, part of her quite impressed with his performance, the rest of her feeling absolutely certain that the moment the charm wore off, he was going to kill her. Or, perhaps more likely, glare at her. In general, she was expecting an unpleasant response - which was fair enough, really, since she would completely deserve it.

"And tiiiiiime, goes byyyyy so slowly and time can do so much... are yoooou, still miiiiiiiinnnnne?"

As the last echoes fell into place, her horrified eyes still peering over her knees, the little silence indicated the end of the charm. "...Erm" Billy said as he sprang up, and Tanya busied herself with letting go of her knees and industriously looking for the parchment she'd left on the floor, in an effort not to look at the seventh year. Her cheeks had gone decidedly pink. The silence in the common room gave way to chuckles and conversation, and the sixth year finally located her parchment, which she picked up and studied with supreme focus.

"So, erm... wrong charm huh?"

"OhmyGod," the Scottish girl mumbled in reply. For a moment, she stared further at the notes, before tossing the paper aside, and turning to look at the older Ravenclaw with lingering shame. "I can't believe I did that! I'm so, so sorry. That was totally bogue."

She paused for a moment, before cocking her head to the side, an expression of distracted interest taking root.

"Have you ever noticed how the ground never opens up and swallows you when you want it to?" The most disturbing thing was that Tanya was genuinely interested in this. Had she not had the distraction of her own embarassment, she would very possibly have run off to study the likelihood of inventing a spell that did just that.
Give me the words and I'll say them like I mean it

'Cause you've got my heart in a headlock, you stopped the blood and made my head soft...
