This was fun. Lydia hadn't had the opportunity to sit and talk and flirt (sort of) with a boy in a long time. It was like stretching out in that refreshingly arched way after having been sitting still for too long.

"Alright, I'll hold you to that. Just keep a eye out of them,"

"Oh, don't you worry," she laughed. "Stick with me and I'll make sure everyone loves you. Not that it would be too hard. I can't see anyone, really, not liking someone like you. I mean, a boy who brings a girl chocolates... you don't see too many of those around any more. I'm really impressed."

"You know, you could always just open them up and see what was inside before popping it into your mouth,"

"Oh, but Danny, where is the fun in that? It takes away all of the surprise if you know that it's a caramel, or a cordial, or coconut or any of that. I suppose with an attitude like that, I really shouldn't complain, but it's easy to forget one's opinion on things when presented with the unpleasant surprise of a chocolate that's not your favorite. I like the coconuts best, personally. And then the caramels, and, no, no, I like the mints next. Or maybe mints are first. I really don't know; you can't expect a girl to pick a favorite. Favorites are for people who have no sense of adventure, who only like one thing."

Lydia enjoyed chattering. She would talk to a wall if she thought it might be interested.

"So did you get many roses for valentine's day?"

Lydia smiled and scooted a bit closer to the boy beside her, making sure he could feel exactly where her arm touched his.

"Not too many. I mean, I got some. But not, like, a lot from other boys or anything. I'm not a girl like that. But I liked yours. It was my favorite, you know?"
