Lucius couldnt see whether his hex had worked, because there was the not-so-transparent matter of a table leaning up between himself and his targets. And he couldnt hear the words tossed between the professors thanks to the blood-curdling, tortured yowling that had no doubt resulted from the efforts of his more.zealous of companions. But the lack of explosions against the solid wood barrier was something.

And then a Death Eater hit the ground behind the crouched wizard. Instantly Lucius bubbled a shield spell around his own form, and whipped around. He took in the features of the Stunned victim, noted eye color due to his proximity to the mans masked face, measured build with a swift approximation. It was Elphais, then. Someone worth holding the I saved your arse, now do me favors card over. Perfect.

Dont take this moment wrongly. Lucius wasnt the Gryffindor, save-your-comrades type. But there was a handle available here that he wouldnt miss for the world. He was driven by the game of manipulation, and a pawn had just lain down before his knight. Lucius really couldnt help the glee that sparked suddenly in his cold grey eyes.

He didnt have time to formulate a plot, however. A sickeningly green bolt flashed by his table shield, and Lucius looked up in time to see it impale the chest of another Death Eater. The corpse, newly slain, dropped. Malfoy strengthened his shielding spell as he spun back around, rising in a flurry of robes.

A great flash of light glared forth through the suddenly absent roof of the tavern, almost obscuring the Mark that hovered like a hawk mantling over its prey. Several rapid blinks banished the photo-spots from Malfoys sight, which lowered down to see Dumbledores wand pointed directly for him. With a chill that froze his spine came the recognition of the waiting force. The light, and the odd pulses in its center, suddenly made sense. He wondered how the old man could hold such a beast in its cage.

"Enough!"

Lucius jumped on the chance. He knew very well how the trigger for that awkward trap was tripped. And he wasnt going to be around if Bellatrix did not. A silent levicorpus was given in his mind, wand flicking discreetly at Elphais. As soon as the Stunned Death Eater rose up to a level that allowed Lucius to grab his wrist, the action was made. A strong, clamp of a grip wrapped around his indebted comrades left arm (poetically enough), and Lucius spun in a sharp turn. A thunderous crack announced his departure from the scene, his usual whiplike effect made louder by the presence of a tag-along Disapparator: Elphaiss body. The two vanished.
