"It's a pleasure to meet you, Renee."

There was something in his tone that gave Amelie the most distinctive impression that he was feeling as out of his own on this mess as she was awkward. Well, good. Renee seemed to like him nonetheless, for she offered his quite a big smile, surprisingly on nicer behaviour than normal. Amelie and Renee's personalities seemed to clash on the matter of cleanliness and this led to incidents that on the whole were better left unspoken of; one did not want to scare off the innocent victim one had so cunningly lured to one's lair...

"I'm so sorry to impose this on you," said Amelie, against her wish to apologise and make things more awkward than they were, though she was genuinely apologetic. "I really hope I didn't drag you away from something." There were things one was meant to be able to handle oneself, or that were at least rightfully things that ought to have been handled within the family loop, so to speak. Which she did not condone her parents' attitude at all, she did not wish to air the fact that she was an incompetent mother and inflict its effects on other people. The only person she should rightfully have inflicted it on was Dylan, of course, but Dylan, the blockhead, was... well, a blockhead.

The look that Jakob was currently giving Renee revealed further the idiocy of this arrangement, although she could not help but be a little amused at this. Poor man, he probably had no idea what he'd managed to get himself into. She refrained from smiling, though she felt quite terrible, if terrible tickled with it, and pressed on, "Can I get you some coffee or something? I have some very fine tea somewhere as well, I believe," she added, with a smile, endeavouring to be encouraging and perhaps failing.

"She seems quite well-behaved."

She had to crack a smile at that, despite her attempts not to be openly amused. She didn't want to appear as though she was laughing at him, though his particular choice of words made it hard. "Oh yes," she said, with a small grin, "I do like to keep her well trained, keep the ... collateral damage to the minimal." She placed Renee in her chair and knelt before her once more, putting the other sock on her foot. "There... She's not always this quiet," she said, "I think she's just a little shy, aren't you?" Straightening up, she brushed down her skirt, and paused, still a little awkward. Though hospitality came easily to her, and she pulled through, with an, "I'll just get you some coffee."

With which proclamation she departed to the kitchen, leaving Mr. Calloway and young Ms. Moreau-Conn to get acquainted.
