Right.

So Plum was a confident sort of girl, never the kind to let a sliver of doubt get in the way of her good humor. And so, she forced a casual smile onto her pretty lips and folded her arms so that she was hugging her elbows to herself in a picture of non-chalant femininity. Or something like that. She could stand like that for hours, weeks even, and not be bothered. She was the sort who went to people, you see. She chose her own company...

"Plum! You missed all the excitement that follows Skeeter around like a stinking cloud. But on the plus side, you didn't miss out on the food or the beer! Get over here, there is someone I want you to meet."

Thank Merlin for River Fenwick. Plum's smile melted from forced to entirely sincere as her co-worker appeared.

"I'm afraid Rita's stench isn't quite my style," she said, moving to meet the redhead. "How are you, River?" Plum gave another grin to the boy beside her. He seemed somewhat gawky, but that was all right. Gawky was fun. "And really, what I'd like is some lemonade. I doubt they have something like that, though. Do you know? And hello, I'm Plum. Nice to meet you."

She extended her hand to the gawky-but-fun boy beside River, ignoring his death-look in the she-Fenwick's direction.
