"I uh.... t-thanks."

Plum smirked. She liked making boys uncomfortable. Not in the cruel way, of course, but Benjy was just cute and he looked adorable with his ears and cheeks all pink and whatnot.

"You're welcome. I'm a complete klutz, honestly. Anyone will tell you that." Plum smoothed her hair, though, in an attempt to look at least somewhat well put together. Not that the girl looked anything but entirely presentable at all times. Her inner and private lives were two very different things.

"I am s-sorry P-plum. I really d-didn't mean t-ttto upset you. W-w-we don't have to talk about it if you don't w-want to."

"No, sorry. I'm sorry, please," she said with a little laugh. "I'm just, oh I'm just being silly." Best to laugh off moments like that, right? It had just come on so suddenly, she didn't know how to cope with that feeling of desolate... hopelessness. Oh bother, she was getting old and senile and cynical, and all of those other things that she promised herself that she would never become.

"We can talk about something else if you like."

"Oh, well, all right," Plum said, smiling when he touched her. Plum was a touchy sort of girl, and it didn't take too much to instigate a lot of return from her. "Why are you here? I mean, I mean not in an accusatory way or anything, but... well, I mean, do you live in Lowell? Or know someone or..." Plum smiled. Smiling at boys usually made things better.
