Workshop # 2

A) Quirks are defined as something odd or peculiar in a person's behavior or personality. Write a short description of three of your character's quirks. Are they irrationally afraid of something? Does she always crack her knuckles? Is he obsessed with collecting something? After you've written about three of them, choose one and write a short RP sample where your character displays one of their quirks.

Quirk # 1: Desmond is claustrophobic. He hates closed spaces, especially if its dark. Having been kept in a small box-like room for four months wasnt exactly a pleasant experience and hes dreaded it since.
Quirk # 2: Desmonds pet peeve is someone peering over his shoulder. It really unnerves him when someone does it, even if its for something as innocent as reading something hes writing.
Quirk # 3: Desmond has the tendency to run a hand through his hair. He does it when hes exasperated, if hes deliberating about something, if hes uncomfortable. Sometimes, he just does it without knowing it.

RP Sample:

Desmond trudged into his considerably large closet, looking for the pair of shoes he was supposed to wear tonight. The mess of discarded clothes made it rather difficult for him to rummage around. Releasing a sigh that spoke of his annoyance, he resolved to tidy up tomorrow or sometime after the dinner party if he had the chance or if he didnt forget it. Just when he raised one of his shirts and saw the exact pair of leather shoes he was looking for, someone thought it funny to push him into the closet and trap the both of them in there. Hello, Dez. Caroline Travells voice contained a sultry note that grated on his already-taut nerves. Desmond gritted his teeth, not because of being pressed against Caro but because the walls of his closet seemed to close in on him. He hated feeling caged; hated it with a passion. Never mind the fact that he stumbled out of his closet, he was not staying in it any longer. Spearing a hand through his hair, he marched out of his room, mumbling something about seeing Caro at the party as he planned on ways to evade her yet again.

B) Habits are defined as the usual way of doing something; a routine followed on a daily basis. Perhaps your character sleeps in everyday to the point where they are late to their first class all the time. Maybe every morning they are up at the crack of dawn and take a jog around the lake. Write a description of one good habit and one bad habit that your character has. Then write a short rp sample where the character exhibits one of their habits (or both, if you can swing it).

Habit # 1: Desmond takes a bath every morning, whatever the weather. He likes to stay clean and never begins a day without taking a bath, even if he already woke up late for class.
Habit # 2: Desmond has a habit of procrastinating, especially when it comes to working on his homework. He never starts it on time and usually ends up cramming for everything.

RP Sample:

Desmond had remained in that position for quite some time now. Through the eyes of another, he may have given the impression of being asleep. One leg was draped over the arm of the plush chair; the other lazed distally, the heel of his shoe resting on one of the many dark-colored carpets in the Common Room. The middle of his back sank against the other arm of the chair as he was slumped into the base. One arm lay across his forehead, shielding his gaze from an onlooker. The other arm had found a location just below his chest, rhythmically rising and falling with his even breathing. Rolls of parchment sat on the table beside the chair hed claimed, along with an ink bottle and a couple of quills. He was supposed to work on his Transfiguration homework but as usual, he was never in the mood, and had delayed it for another minute or so while he lounged. Five minutes He told himself as he shifted slightly not really sure hed begin his work when the minutes were up. Oh well
