Damn it, Paris, why didn't you just lie to me?!

Paris jumped, the baby started screaming and he found himself in the hallway. Then, of course, came the stammering. The admission of what he already knew to be true. It was hers. It was hers. And the father...

Lucius needed to sit down. His knees felt a little wobbly. Just a tad bit. He blinked a few times before plastering on a weak smile. "I...You..." Just feet away, he could hear the baby still crying. It sent a strange chill down his spine. Lucius wasn't particularly good with children. He didn't dislike them. Merely the idea of having one. Yes, that was what made all the color drain from his already pale face.

His mind was racing though he still couldn't find anything to say. He'd barely gotten a look at the child. A girl - Megan or something. Had it been blonde? Oh Merlin above, the thing looked just like him.

"Congratulations?" A forced cough. "I mean...She's...Beautiful. Truly. Just like her mother." He tried to keep his tone conversational but his stomach felt as though he'd been slammed by a manticore. "Do you...Well, that is to say...The father?"

Narcissa was going to skin him alive.
