WORKSHOP #1

1) Were you raised by both of your parents? If yes, who were you closest to and why? How did you interact with each? If no, who raised you and how has this affected who you are today?

No, I was raised mostly by a nanny, but my father taught me some sports. I never got to spend much time at all with my mother. She spent, and still spends, most of her time at parties and other social gatherings. My father works a lot, but at least me makes time for me. I don't think my mother loves me much simply because she's hardly ever around. She and I don't get alone very well, so I avoid her. Being raised by a nanny didn't really affect me much at all, maybe it made me a little sad when she left. After all, she was my mother for eight years.

2) What do your parents do for a living? Do they expect you to follow the same path? Is this what you want to do? What would you rather do? Do they support your choices?

My father works at the Ministry and my mother is nothing more than a socialite. I am expected to work the same job my father works, or at least attain a high ranked position somewhere in the Ministry, and I suppose I will. I have nothing against it, really. I would like to see what other types of ways there are to make a living, but I don't care much. A ministry job is fine for me. My father and mother don't know at all that I have thought one bit about anything by working like Father does, and I don't intend to tell them.

3) Parental support and approval is an important key to self-esteem, or lack thereof. How much support and approval do you recieve? It is of a good nature (ie - supporting you to make the right choices even if it's not popular) or of a dodgy nature (ie - encouraging you to do what must be done to keep yourself on top)? How has this affected you?

None, in a word. I don't tell my parents much about anything. Mother wouldn't care, and Father would tell me his is busy or to talk to him later. He would listen, but in his eyes I should do what I have to do get things done. I suppose that can be dodgy at times. Maybe that's why I am as ambitious - I like to get what I want. Maybe not.

4) No matter how wonderful ones parents are, teenagers and parents fight. Even adult children fight with their folks. What sort of things do you and your parents fight about all the time? Do you fight often, or rarely?

Mother and I fight a lot about the most senseless things. She says she wants to see me settle down, and I refuse to even think of that! I am only sixteen! Perhaps it would be nice, in a way, to know that a wife is ensured for me, but my parents are married, products of arrangement, and they hate each other, I think. I don't want to live like that. But, being able to have girlfriends at sixteen is fine, I think. Father agrees with me. I don't fight much at all with Father, but Mother and I fight whenever I am home.

5) Grandparents can often be an important factor in a life. Are your grandparents still alive? How much of an influence do they exert on your life? On your parents' life?

I never met my mother's parents, and my father's parents live in Greater London, so I don't see them very often. They visit at Christmas, that's all. I don't know how my mother was affected by her parents, but Father's parents send him letters often.

6) How many siblings do you have? Older? Younger? How do you get along with each? Is there any significant rivalry with any of them? Do your parents favor (or appear to favor) one over the other? How do the dynamics of your siblings affect you?

I'm an only child.

1) Is the number higher on the negative or positive side?
Negative
2) By how much?
94
3) Which traits have the highest numbers?
The ones that are about morals - like liar/dishonest, manipulative/schemer, and a taker/a user.
4) What has this taught you about your character?
Liam isn't as bad as he seems, really, but has serious issues with morals that relate directly to himself and his actions. He's critical of others and cynical, but has a pretty predictable personality over all.

WORKSHOP #3

B: Boggart - What is your character's greatest fear? What would their boggart be? What is the reason for this?

Liam's boggart would be a huge spider that moves very, very fast. Liam is scared of the way spider's move - quickly over a short distance - and then stop without slowing down at all. He cannot stand to see spiders, or even get close enough to kill one.

E: Mirror of Erised - What does your character desire most in this world? Why is that? Are they aware that this is what they most want or would they be surprised by this?

In his heart, Liam really just wants to be normal. He has lived a life in which he has everything he needs and more, and really does know that he is less of a person because of it. He wants to be able to live on his own, using the qualities he has been given without having to lie to get what he wants simply to fit the mold of the high society. If he ever saw that, though, he would probably end up killing himself...

D: Dementor - What would they relive under a Dementor's gaze? Their worst memory. How does this affect them today, if it does?

Under the Dementor's gaze, Liam would surely relive the first time he saw his father with another woman. Though he has come to be exactly like his father, at the time, he was shocked and somewhat disgusted by his father's actions and, though he has accepted it, he knows it is wrong. Not to mention that seeing one's father engaged in a sexual act at any age with a woman other than his or her mother is a disturbing and traumatizing for anyone... it may not be a sad or scary memory, but it is the worst one he has.

P: Patronus - What would protect them? Remember, this should be an animal.

Liam's patronus would be a golden eagle. Eagles can fly very high and very far without breaks, and Liam too feels that he needs to spread his own wings... somehow...
