One store was all it took to tucker Grant out. He didn't understand how girls did it, entire days of shopping, standing around and looking at stuff and then forking over cash for said stuff. He'd nearly died when Gail had dragged him to the mall in Derby; he'd come home at the end of the day with sore feet and a sore back and feeling more exhausted than if he'd just played three games of Quidditch.

Knowing that there was going to be a lot of standing around when they made it to the Ministry of Magic for Grant to get his papers in line for when he joined the Darlings on their vacation, the boy had sought refuge among a collection of nursing rockers. He lounged one chair away from a blonde woman who looked as if she stood too close to the stove she'd pop like a kernel corn, and both of them had their feet up and were rocking quite peacefully.

He'd been happy to let Gail wander off, and figured she'd find him if she wanted something. With his eyes closed the squeaking of the chair was a lot more noticeable- as was the swearing coming from some girl a few tables away. He listened for a moment or two before he heard Gail's voice. It was fainter, but it was serious, and it had Grant's eyes opening in an instant. He looked over at Gail and his stomach flew up into his throat. Her wand was out, in the middle of a muggle store, and she was pointing it at someone. A second later, after he'd scrambled out of the rocker, he realized exactly who that someone was. Mack- Mack... Mack Something.

Grant dodged a disturbing breast pump display and a bin or two of miniature socks before he was close enough not to have to shout across the store at them. "Gail," he hissed, waving his hand at her in an attempt to tell her to put her wand out of sight. He ran the last few steps to the girls and didn't hesitate in wedging himself between them, trying to shove his girlfriend's wand back into her purse. Despite the fact that his back was right up shoved against Mack's belly, he thought nothing of the obvious bulge there, nor what on earth Mack was doing in a baby shop. "There are people here," he said, clearly emphasizing that "people" meant "muggles" and if the two of them started something now they'd be insane.
