As the footsteps approached they started sounding more familiar. Well minus a slight slowing of the gate of one of them due to what he observed to be a bag that was hitting it. Tilting his head slightly as Trent approached he debated saying something about how that might bruise. Or as an alternative a question why a bag lightening charm was not used as the bag definitely appeared to have some weight to it.

Then his housemate mumbled which always made him unsure if he should say anything. As Trent was a bit quiet, and had the tendency to try to please people so possibly saying something would distract his housemate from whatever destination he was going to. A distraction that would be started by him and continued by Trent most likely because he tended to go towards wherever the group or individual was obviously heading.

So he just nodded as his housemate walked past him. As held enough respect for his dorm mate that ignoring Trent would be disrespectful. Then he looked back out the window as he heard Trent take a few steps upward before seeming to come back. Not that he could tell this from sound as the difference between going and coming was a few feet at most. However even though he was looking out the window he kept Trent in his vision even if it was off to the side. If it was not his housemate he would have probably pretended to be waiting for someone and kept his back towards the window.

Maybe he should have considered that?

He smiled slightly when Trent asked if he was spying on the Ravenclaw practice. Mostly as before he was not sure which group of students he was spying on. It was not worth denying, though he was happy the binoculars were on a ledge below to the point there was no way to connect them with him. Maybe Trent would not notice them as he would hate to lose a good pair of binoculars in denying they were his. Dakota said " It is only spying if they are trying to hide something, " shrugging after he finished talking.

Then after a slight pause he said " I must admit though they are more entertaining than looking towards the willow hoping it might catch a bird. " Something he had done on numerous times. Mostly as an excuse to watch something else on the grounds that was in the whomping willow's general direction. Though that excuse would not work this time as the willow would have required another window to be seen from. Or to be on the ledge below.

He turned slightly and his eyes quickly looked down and noticed Trent's bag. Dakota said " So what you planning with that many books?" Of course his gut told him Trent was planning nothing. However if it was anything that could later prove interesting he was rather curious.
