This was the reason that they never went anywhere.  Traveling away from home for an overnight trip was a lot of work.  It was stressful and tiring and you just had to hope that the effort would pay off with a nice visit in between the craziness of arrival and departure.  Michelle struggled to get Benjamin settled and finally asleep, and then she started sorting out the things they’d brought – food items for the kitchenette, toiletries for the loo, baby items, etc.  She was headed into their room with one last bag to get her clothes sorted out when she found Luke in a right state.  The walls were canvas thin and the baby was just now asleep and here he was spitting out vulgarities like he was in a pub with a bunch of drunk Muggle football fans.

She set to work on her own clothes, sorting them into the little drawer while she shot him pointed looks.  Really, Michelle had no idea what he was looking for, but she wasn’t about to help him unless he asked nicely.  Really, seemed to her that SHE had been the one doing all the hard work so far.  If he would rather care for the baby while she did some spell work and organized their things, he would have been more than welcome to try.

Michelle jumped out of her skin when he suddenly up and started yelling, and the first thing she did, recovering, was to grab her wand and hit him with a silencing spell – the same one she did every other night or so to get rid of his snoring.  Michelle’s eyes were very narrow as she growled at him, still pointing her wand right at him.

“If you wake up that baby,” she hissed, “you’ll have him for the next two hours all by your pretty little self, because that is how long I am off baby duty right now.  Do you hear me?”  She shoved her drawer closed gave him another hard glare before she lifted the spell.  “Your trunks are in the beach bag,” she added, her tone cold, “with all the other swim things.” She pointed at the striped tote bag sitting at the doorway, where she’d dropped it on her way into the room.  “All you had to do was ask.”
