Michelle tipped her face up and rested her chin on his shoulder, examining the side of his face from very close range.  Had he really just said what she thought he’d said?  Egypt?  The statement was too sudden and surprising for her to even form an opinion yet.  As though in answer to her unspoken question, Luke explained a little, and Michelle pulled back from him, moving around his shoulder to look at her husband more fully.

“A job?” she repeated, as if she’d never heard the term in her life.  “What do you mean there’s a job?  Have you already applied for it?”

Michelle knew full well that Cursebreaking had always been Luke’s dream, and she looked forward to the day when he would get to do it, but it seemed like such a long way off.  She also knew that large majority of Cursebreaking was done in places like Egypt and South America – places that would one day take him far from home for long stretches.  That part she didn’t like so much.  But the way he’d just said that . . . moving?  “Are . . . are you thinking of moving all of us there?”
