As the curse slipped off his lips, he heard Elliot shout his from across the room. It seemed as though Elliot's spell manifested itself instantly. A jet of dangerously red light flicked off the end of his opponent's wand and began moving with fast speeds at his chest. Somewhere in between the duellers -- Damon feared, somewhere closer to him, for Elliot's spell moved with such speed -- the two spells crossed. Damon's bulldozing wave of Cunfundo was made visible only because it passed through Elliot's red light.

And then the spells struck their targets. They had flown with such speed that Damon hardly had enough time to prepare. He moved his wand slightly seconds before impact in an attempt to do something, but such movement only appeared to be a cringe before the electric light dissipated with a crackle into his chest.

Damon felt the awful pinch of a spell well cast and, within seconds felt his body stiffen painfully. His muscles screamed with anguish and confusion. Then he realized he was off balance and feeling the force of the spell try and tilt him over. He staggered a foot behind him, steadying himself against his limb's wishes.

His eyes blinked constantly and he shook his head to try and shake the odd feeling that was brewing in his mind. An uncomfortable lightness had developed near his forehead and thinking came difficultly. As he felt the full effects of the spell, Damon tried to think of what to cast next. However, Stupefy had settled like an unwelcome in-law on his decision making. It muddled his thoughts and offered useless suggestions. No matter, Damon thought as he flicked his eyes towards his opponent. These feelings would make the next spell tricky, but not impossible, and the Slytherin needed to do something. Elliot is still conscious, and Damon Burke only had three points.

And with that, Damon began to cast his next spell. He rotated his right forearm around in a medium circle, building up the magic on his wand tip and loosening the muscles, then with a somewhat hoarse shout he cast, "Confundo!" again, both because the spell earned the most points and because he was simply too stunned to be able to remember what other spells he knew.
