Damon's casting was solid, and this time Elliot had decided to take the defensive but not fast enough. In seconds, Damon saw the crack of the blasting charm flash across Elliot's chest and his opponent stagger back.

"Almost, Elliot! Six, Two for Damon," Jared Burke said to Damon's pleasure.

Six points meant Damon only needed one more point for victory. In other duels, Damon would have taken this opportunity to humiliate his opponent. He'd cast another blasting charm just to emphasize his superiority or he'd try and inflict pain on his final cast.

However, Damon liked Elliot and had a genuine admiration for the captain. Plus, the man had already had one shameful defeat this weekend; he needn't have another one. Although the bird was probably out for Damon's blood, Damon was willing to take the pain in order to allow Elliot to walk away from the duel with his honor in tact. Five-Seven or even Four-Seven were not disreputable scores. If they both made this final cast, they could both walk away at peace, Damon thought.

So as Elliot shook off Damon's last curse and shouted out a blasting charm of his own, Damon took a more delicate stance and, without a passionate yell or any extra shove, cast in a neutral tone, "Rictusempra," hoping that his generosity would not be his own downfall.
