No. She couldn't deny him that. She couldn't deny herself that, or the way she laced her fingers with his, but once they came to a halt, she disentangled herself carefully from his hold and made very sure to keep herself from leaning against the wall by him, acutely aware of just where it was they were standing. 

And then she didn't know what to say. She'd worked out all manner of speeches in her head over the course of the last few weeks, but every word of every one of those speeches seemed lost to her in the moment. She'd planned to be strong right now, but it wasn't working out. The next moment she was closing the distance and pressing in against his chest, her hands curling against his shirt.

It kept the tears from leaking, not having to look at him.

"Sioni...I want to...to just...just be...friends. Again. I just...I, having a...a boyfriend...I don't like it," she said at last, her voice muffled against him.
