Gil had been working hard at the farm and, on occasion, his mum would insist that he take off a day. Generally that was a losing battle because, though he'd made a few very helpful changes on the farm with spells and charmwork, he had created more work for himself in the upper field. Mum still didn't know what he was up to - only Lizzie and Lana knew. He'd nearly told Cameron the night his brother confessed about getting his girl pregnant, but he still kept it quiet. Fact was, even if he did have goals and dreams about raising flying horses, he had a long way to go to get there and he didn't fancy the idea of a lot of people knowing if he failed at the startup. He'd likely have continued to work that day if mum hadn't pulled a surprise when he came in from his early morning chores to find Lana standing there smiling at him.

He knew when he was beat.

Course, the match ended up as a bit of a wash, really. He could hear his brother out there cursing up a storm, but seeing him was a whole different matter. Instead, he kept an arm around his girl and took advantage of the low visibility to kiss her like some love-sick teen.

"I don't know that I'd have let you play on a pitch like this," he admitted, sliding his hand around her waist and pressing a kiss to her temple. "It'd have been a brilliant argument, you know."
