His reaction hardly surprised her. She had no idea if hers would surprise him. There were days when Espa was feeling bold, like today. Other days she followed his every word like a perfect pureblood wife. If she was in the mood to fight, she would fight. Occasionally she would even win. On this topic, she was more than willing to fight. She wanted to do something for her. She wasn't going to do it for her father, or Kaleb, or Sioni, or Vera, or Grace. She was going to do something that was just for her. There was little to nothing Kaleb could do to dissuade her from her new found life purpose.

"And what about Grace? Huh? You're supposed to be her mother not some damn college student,"

"The nanny needs something to do other than you." Esperanza said rather coldly as she took a drink from the water glass on the table. It didn't really bother her that Kaleb slept with other women. As long as it wasn't Serena Sorelli, and as long as no one else got pregnant, she couldn't care less. He was welcome to do what he pleased with whom he pleased. Her point was valid either way. They had a nanny to watch Grace. He always told her she should let Clarissa do so.

"I know of another idea: You stay at home and be the wife and mother that you're supposed to be."

She glared at him. "I married you. I show up and look pretty whenever you need to show me off. I take care of Grace. And I can still do all of these things and teach. Having a career does not make me less of a wife or mother." If anything it would make her better at both of those jobs. She would be far less likely to kill her husband in his sleep if she wasn't sitting at home thinking about that very thing all day.

"The answer is no. I absolutely refuse to let you work. No pureblood woman is supposed to work, not now, not ever. End of discussion."

"No. Not end of discussion." Espa snapped when the manager walked away. "There are lots of pureblood women who work and are incredibly successful. You are an amazing quidditch player. Shouldn't I get to have something too? Being beautiful counts for a lot, but being a beautiful wife is hardly a fulfilling career."
