Lisette had not intended to have her suggestion overheard. When she'd whispered her words into Gloria's ear, she'd been speaking so quietly that it wasn't even clear whether or not she wanted Gloria to hear her, let alone the mean boy she was whispering about. Being selective of who heard you was the whole entire point of whispering! When he seemed to have heard her anyway, she was  honestly a bit shocked. She didn't react in any obvious way, however. She just stared boredly at him as he snapped at her, like she was merely being polite and waiting for him to finish being stupid. That obviously wasn't what she was really doing. If she had to stand there and wait for him to stop being stupid, she'd be waiting a long, long time.

She was secretly quite thrilled when Gloria went and stuck up for her, even though Connor hadn't done more than call her stupid (which wasn't even especially mean because it wasn't even true). It still felt good to have someone there to stick up for her without having words put into her mouth, though. Lisette was rarely lucky enough to have somebody on her side like that. It wasn't a secret that she was easy to make fun of. Connor wouldn't have had to try very hard to find an insult with any basis in reality. She was pretty sure she knew who the real stupid one was, and she told Gloria so.

This time, though she was muttering quietly under her breath, she wasn't trying too hard to keep him from hearing her. She wasn't sure there was any way to do that, since he'd overheard her even when she was deliberately trying to speak only to Gloria. “He sent you a flower so he could give you flowers?” she mumbled. Stupid. “Those are just from herbology class, anyway.” Either he was really that dumb, or it was some kind of a trick. Given that this was Connor Young, she wasn't sure which was more likely.
