"Are you sure that you're not just stalling?"

“Shhh!” Anna hissed loudly, still down in her crouch, clutching her recently abused wand and looking quite vigilant. She'd heard something, but she couldn't quite tell where it was coming from. For some absurd reason she assumed that he was still watching his post, and if whatever it was she heard was coming from his end of the hall he'd see it and alert her. Well, that's what she got for putting her faith in Todd Maculric.

The sound came again, louder this time, and she jumped to her feet fleetly, holding her wand up threateningly. The most she'd really been expecting was a student, maybe a professor, but she rarely got got opportunities to strike threatening looking poses, so she took the opportunity. Though she looked extra aware of her surroundings and poised to strike, getting rammed into by a very sticky Todd caught her off guard. She shrieked, spinning around and shoving him back, before taking in the sight of the hovering menace, who was holding an overturned, empty (but still dripping) bucket of – erm – something. One stream of goop, slowly oozing from the edge of the pail, dropped suddenly and glooped itself onto her shoulder, catching some of her blonde curls and spreading out over her shirt.

She stared at the mess disbelievingly for only a moment before her eyes turned on Peeves again, full of fury. The poltergeist was singing a pleasant little ditty about making her more loony than she'd made herself, which didn't exactly endear him to her. “You bloody – you little – SHUT IT!” she bellowed. He did not shut it. She saw Todd's hex going off but she didn't want to just stand there and let him take care of it. Sure, he was the one covered in a  bucket's worth of goop, but Peeves was goading her, so she took his presence personally regardless. She charged, raging after him at full speed, her wand raised. “IF YOU WANT TO SEE CRAZY-” she shouted, pausing only to send a small barrage of jinxes at the poltergeist, “YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT BLOODY PLACE, HAVEN'T YOU?” She continued chasing and firing after him even when he seemed to be attempting to retreat. She hated the bow-tied creatures' guts, but she had to admit the chase felt marvelous.
