“Won them off ffleurbert playing Gobstones,” she mimicked, using a whiny, high pitched, highly affected voice that didn't sound remotely like Todd, except for the slightest ounce of effort she put into adding a hint of a Yorkshire lilt to her voice. It was just the detail she needed to make her horrible mocking imitation the slightest bit more credible.  “You're so boring,” she reminded him for the millionth time, just in case he'd forgotten since the last time she'd saw fit to inform him. Meanwhile, she dug through the beans, trying to find something that looked remotely appetizing. She seemed to have a strategy, as she was picking through and putting all of the beans of a certain hue aside. She prattled on all the while. “I mean, I've met people more boring than you. Most people wouldn't crawl into some stupid hole in the wall with me. But in between being exciting, you're the most boring person I've ever met in my entire god damned life.” Coming from Anna that was almost a compliment. It was clearly meant as one, too. She was smirking at him in the wandlight in a way that wasn't entirely cruel.

In a trice, Anna popped a small handful of vaguely reddish bertie botts beans into her mouth and instantly shuddered, winced, screwed up her face completely, clenched her hands into fists, and squeaked – all while chewing frantically, before she'd even properly swallowed. “Holy hell, one of those was hot!” she exclaimed, her eyes slightly bugged out. She laughed, smacking her lips together a bit and trying to place the flavors she'd just endured.

“Do you ever do Botts Shots?” she asked him, fairly sure that he hadn't. People who played gobstones for jellybeans weren't often into such extreme sports. “You're supposed to take them with a shot of tequila or something, but you don't have to. It's fun however you do it, though drunk is funner. Here,” she said, handing him a small pile of blues, approximately equal in size to the one she'd just downed. “The rule is you have to do them all at once, and you have to chew – you can't just swallow them all like capsules and expect a bloody pat on the back.”

She was no longer in any rush to get to Hogsmeade. She was outside of Hogwarts, away from any threats, and safe in a place where nothing really mattered. She liked it here, in this non-place. This was the best she'd felt all day. And – though she'd never say it to him – Todd wasn't so bad, either.
