Name: Rachel Esther LaRose
House: Slytherin
Year: First
Wand: Plan to RP it.
Bloodline: Half-blood
Birthday: August 20, 1969
Pet/Familiar: None.
Physical Description: With large brown eyes and dark brown hair Rachel appears of the most innocent of sorts. She smiles often and a laugh is almost never far away from her lips. She is average for her age in height and build, having that look of a child trying to grow into a teen being mostly all elbows and knees. She has never had an issue with her weight as, with two older brothers, the young girl has never been sedentary for more than a minute at a time except when sleeping. She has light freckles across her cheeks and nose, but her mum had the same at her age and grew out of them, thus Rachel has hopes she'll grow out of them as well.
Most often Rachel's hair is kept pulled back in a loose ponytail and though she often considers getting her hair cut short, she keeps it long if only because she believes it is all that keeps her from somehow morphing into a third boy in the family. Her mum will occasionally take the time to use some complex charms on her hair to make her hair curly, but Rachel prefers it to be straight.
In terms of her dress, she is not overly concerned with anything involving style and tends to wear cords in bright colours with striped tops and a plain old
trainers. Sometimes she'll take to wearing a few bracelets and she always takes pains to wear a pair of earrings that match the color of her top. As for
her uniform, she wears it as per regulation and wouldn't dare consider otherwise. Just as she keeps her regular clothing always picked up and hung, she
does the same with her school uniform.
She also has a scar from a floo accident when she was five. Flames caught ahold of her pants and melted them to the skin of her upper left thigh. The skin
there is melty and ugly and she has a fear of flooing even to this day.
Personality Description: A determined confidence cloaks Rachel in just about everything she does. She has always had her dreams and her whims,
if not satisfied, at least entertained and rarely with anything but pure enthusiasm. Her older brothers, Seth and David, have almost always been a part of this
whether they were willing dressed to the nines for a teaparty, playing the role of the student in a classroom or being good Ministry lackeys for Minister
Rachel LaRose.
This has rendered the young LaRose daughter with a bit of a spoiled nature and if she didn't carry a charm and generosity of spirit so close to her, it could easily make her a nasty piece of work. This doesn't mean that she is perfect, for she can be terribly bossy and, despite her upbringing, lies come easy to the young girl; often they are told in order to protect her own skin.
She has strong ambitions and often times her lies are told towards those ends despite the many lectures, punishments and the like she has suffered from not only her parents but her brothers. Her strongest ambition is to someday be the Minister of Magic and it is often David who can get her to lay off her lies for a time by reminding her that she needs to 'keep a clean nose' if she truly hopes to someday become the Minister.
With her friends she is a loyal and strong companion, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't often put her own wants above them. Making grand apologies, complete with gifts and all manner of attempts at winnowing her way back into their good graces. Afterall, being on their good side is extremely useful when she needs or wants things. Enemies aren't something she attempts to cultivate, but this doesn't mean she doesn't have them. Thing is, she's more likely to pour all manner of kindnesses ontop of them to lull them into a false sense of security with her.
Rachel has a begruding respect for authority, but only has the respect part because of her upbringing. Still, she will plot and scheme to get her way with
authority as well. Crocodile tears come quickly to her when she is caught doing something she shouldn't.
Brief History: Born August 20, 1969 to Harold and Margaret LaRose, Rachel Esther LaRose came squalling into the lives of her twin brothers.
Rasied by a stay at home mum and a father who held a respectable job as a supervisor in the Portkey Office at the Ministry, life was basic and simple. She
doesn't recall a Sunday in her life when she didn't attend the local Methodist Church. She was raised on the Bible and the love and support of family.
Her family lives in a home owned by her maternal grandparents in Walthamstow. The home affords the kids each their own room - though the twins share a room and
thus Rachel tells everyone she has two rooms.
She was five when her brothers got their letters and left for Hogwarts; she told her friends at school that her twin brothers had been taken by the government for bizarre experiments involving twins. Her brothers, you see, had tele-knees-us and the government wanted to try to use that for spying. When they came home for the holidays their first year, she tried to convince both of them that her teacher knew they were magic and that she could bring them in - wearing their full uniforms - for show and tell. And when they wouldn't allow her to use their wands she threw a tantrum that David finally managed to quell by letting her play with a small dragon figurine he'd gotten from some lad he called Grimm. It breathed fire and kept her quite pleased and happy for the duration of the holiday.
By the time she turned eleven, she was waiting, daily, at the windows watching for the owl to bring her letter and when it finally came she
couldn't stop jumping about the place, climbing on her brothers and asking them loads of questions she already knew the answer to as she had
already peppered them and harrassed them and bugged them since she was five.
Important Relationships:
Harold LaRose: Her father. She adores him, unequivocally. And she has him wrapped about her pinky. Even when he catches her in a bald-faced lie it's exceedingly difficult for the sedate, serious man to do more than give her a half-hearted lecture.
Margaret LaRose: Her mother. As limp noodle as her father can become with her, her mum is made of much sterner stuff and the two don't get along all that well as it is usually her mum who must punish her.
Grandparents Gibbs: Her mum's parents. They come to the home every Sunday after church for dinner and, when they are there, Rachel is always on her best behaviour. But then, she only is because Gram is a very giving woman and Rachel can always count on a bit of pocket money.
Seth and David: Her brothers. She loves them and is always, always, always hanging around them when they are at home. David tends to be the one she goes to the most, but she loves them both equally.
Class sign-ups: Standard first years.
