Eventually all of the visitors left or were kicked out and Caitlin was left with one sorrow: Nat had never shown up. She'd waited; hoped. Every time new steps came in her direction, she hoped it was Nat. But it wasn't. The rest of the team had stopped by (except Nigel, but she never expected him to), but Nat had been noticeably absent. Of course, it was possible, she allowed, that he'd come by either before she'd been fully cognizant (which would explain having seen Crispin...) or that he'd come in when she'd been sleeping. Somehow, she doubted it and it made her heart physically ache. Worse, it had her fully awake now. A simple glance at the windows, combined with the low flicker of light in the whole of the Hospital Wing, let her know that it was well past curfew. Turning her head, she noticed that the curtain between her bed and the next wasn't pulled fully for some reason and there he was. Trent. She could see his face, his eyes closed. It followed that he was asleep and Caitlin returned her gaze to the thick dark above her bed. If she squinted she could just make out the ceiling nearly fifteen feet above them. She tried to get herself back to sleep, the still knitting ribs making her wince as she inhaled a too deep breath. It was then that she heard some movement from the other bed and a soft moan. Turning her head, she was looking at Trent as his eyes opened. And then a choice lay before her. She could ignore him, mock him, or...her eyes slid closed for a moment. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "For what I said." There. She'd said it. No one had asked her to, but she was learning. She, of course, didn't expect Trent to be nice about her apology but, for the moment, she could be proud of herself.
