Dear PIers:
Welcome to autumn! The school year is well underway, and students should be settling back into their routines. Currently, there are two classes in session: Herbology for Third and Fourth Years and Charms for Fifth Years. Posting into these threads will earn house points! Make sure your student character keeps busy! Check out the available clubs or try out for a position on the house Quidditch team!
However, even though classes are becoming routine, there are a few important events coming up in the near future. A Hogsmeade weekend has been scheduled for October 6th and 7th, which will give students an opportunity to acquire last minute costume pieces. Yes, that’s right. It’s time for the annual Halloween Masquerade. Register anonymously and post your costume choices in this thread; first come, first serve. Posting into the Masque will begin on October 5 (same day as Hogsmeade Posting begins!), and the big reveal will take place on October 31. There will be points given for students who post all the way through the unmasking. The theme and decorating scheme will be chosen by the school prefects (as is tradition), so don’t be shy to volunteer any suggestions! We would like to see everyone take part and enjoy themselves!
rainy thursday – Cyril Penworthy
Cyril is a fourth year Ravenclaw, the younger brother of Mortimer Sullivan, and he is played by Anda. He is a pureblood and will be his family’s heir, but he is yet to be betrothed—possibly because he is so annoying that no girl will have him. He likes being outdoors, the sea, and owls.
Best of Intentions – William Laing, Jr.
William is a former Hufflepuff, alumnus of 1978, and he is played by Miri. He married his Hogwarts sweetheart (Anna-Marie), and they had two children before he was sent to Germany on Auror duty; he was presumed dead when he did not return, and only recently, he was rescued, albeit with severe memory loss.
opaque pear – Alex Kollmann
Alex is a former Gryffindor, played by A.J., and he is the cousin of Adam Kollmann. He plays professional Quidditch for the Ballycastle Bats as a Chaser, and he did not finish his schooling at Hogwarts due to the war. He likes Quidditch, poker, and nearly all girls.
With seven extensive books and eight movies giving us insight into the Wizarding World, there are quite a few spells that have become common knowledge among Harry Potter fans. However, with eight years of RPing under our belts, PI has integrated a lot of original or borrowed spells into our 'canon'. Some of these are very creative, and we are interested in accumulating even more. House points will be awarded for creating a spell, following the approved format, and also for using one of the PI Canon spells in a thread. Creating a spell will be worth fifteen points, and using a spell will be worth five. This opportunity is now available.
For creating spells, refer to this thread, which outlines the appropriate format. For using spells, italicize the spell in your thread, and post a link here, with the spell used and the house you'd like to receive your points. Here is a list of the spells approved, along with the difficulty level. Please keep that in mind when using them; a first year will probably not be able to perform an advanced spell correctly. Have fun!
