Daniel removed his outer robe and rolled up his sleeves. From his bag, he removed a violin case and a few sheets of music paper. Pulling out the bow, he opened a bit of rosin and vinously rubbed the bow in order for the dust to grip the bow. This would cause the bow to abhere more firmly to the strings. He then proceeded to tuck the violin under his chin, after a few adjustments of the strings, soon melodic music was surrounding him.
The violin was one of the few instruments that had such a range of emotion. One moment it could be cheerful and bright as it sung out reels and jigs. So merrily that it caused the foot to tap and hands to clap. The music could turn so sweet and melodic that it made one wish for a partner in their arms. In an opposite fashion, anger and rage could be just as easily expressed with such screeching and wailing that it made the listener uncomfortable in the hearing.
The bow slid over the strings. The tune, Ashokan Farewell, emerging from it was mournful in sound, slow and haunting. It fit his mood, sometimes after a completely stressful day at school, this was the best way to unwind. During a particallly bad potions class, Daniel's potion (even with the help of his lab partner) and a complet diaster as it spewed a partically foul smelling odor that caused all the other students to cover their noses and start coughing. Snape, how usually tended to ignore him, came over and had to fix it with a snide remark. Transfigeration and charms hadn't been wa walk in the park either. The song came to an end, the lingering notes just as haunting as the first.
"Would you mind letting me know who you are?" Daniel asked lowered the violin and his bow. His voice a bit sharper then the normal pleasant tone it usually held. He had heard someone come into room. It was probably Professor Campbell who never seemed to mind him practicing here before.
