Physical Description:
Aubrey is a tall girl, standing at 5’10” in flats. Her body proportions are mostly appropriate, though she moves slightly awkwardly as though she is never quite sure what to do with her long limbs. Her hair is a mousy brown, but she occasionally uses charms or potions to make it other colors. She wears it straight and long falling past her shoulders. It is only tied back loosely with ribbon when she needs to get something done or is painting. Her eyes are brown and rather empty. She has one significant scar, an A that was carved in to her left thigh during Fifth year.
Aside from her height, her appearance is generally consider mousy at best. She does not especially care about her appearance, generally being slightly disheveled. Wrinkled jumpers and skirts, stockings crumpled around her ankles the like. She does not like make up, nor does she wear much jewellery. Outside of school uniform her choice of color is black, she likes to wear layers, and baggy robes and jumpers. She does wear a lot of hats, but that's more because her grandmother started gifting her hats, and she wore them, so everyone just assumed she liked hats, and now most of the gifts she receives are hats.
Personality Description:
Apathy beyond power of speech. Most of her emotional range consists of not being able to care about anything. She does not get overly excited when something good happens, nor does she seemed phased at all if something traumatic occurs to herself and others around her. She has difficulty understand the emotional rises and falls of others. Her state of apathy is much more effective and productive than all this twittering about; happy, sad, in love, angry, in love, happy again; who has time for that? If they just stopped caring, then everything would be much, much easier. Because of this, she has difficulty making attachments to other people. While she is not anti-social or an introvert, she does not mind being around others, she does not make friends or enemies or romantic attachments. Those would imply that she cared. And she really doesn’t.
Her hands are never idle. She is constantly folding parchment, or sketchings in the margins, or tapping quills on the desk. Aubrey gets bored easily, trying her best to keep herself busy. She doesn't like standing still. She is very creative, slightly narcissistic, and highly intelligent. She is very detail oriented and a perfectionist. Every pieces of homework, every sketch or tiny sculpture must be exactly perfect. If any detail is off, the entire thing must be restarted. Aubrey is very patient overly organized. Her work areas are always spotless. She makes schedules, lists, and keeps a very detailed though highly coded journal of her day.
Aubrey is an excellent judge of character. She is very observant and almost always can tell can usually figure out a person with only a few question. Which is good because that is about all the concern that she can afford another human being. She is fond of her siblings, and she tolerates a few other people, but outside of that she mostly finds people boring and hardly worth her time. She is forcefully honest nearly all the time. And has difficulties keeping her opinions to herself. If Aubrey dislikes someone or feels someone has wronged her, a grudge when she feels she has been wronged. Once someone is on her bad side they are likely to stay there for a very long time. She can be incredibly stubborn when she wants to be. As such, she is never on time to anything. Not because she doesn’t want to be on time. But because what she was doing to begin with was more important to her than being some place new.
Brief History:
Aubrey Isobel Morgan was born August 10th, 1970, the second child of the three children born to Amelia and Thomas Morgan, and their only daughter. Her first five years of life were typical for a pureblood daughter being raised in London. The Gamp family were purebloods of some renown, descendants of the first Minister of Magic and quite proud of this point. Amelia Gamp was the youngest of the Gamp’s daughters, so it was not as important that her betrothal be to someone as influential as the Black or the Warwicks. The Morgan family were not the most well off of purebloods, decidedly middle class. Thomas Morgan worked as an Obliviator. His income was supplemented by his in-laws so that Amelia could maintain her style of living.
Their first child, Alaric Morgan was born in early October, his sister following the next August. The two were very close as children, being so very close in age, they had a constant companion in each other. And the youngest, Anders, was born the september after Aubrey’s fifth birthday, exactly one month later their mother was killed. Alaric and Aubrey were playing hide and seek. Aubrey was very good at hide and seek. Her mother did not find her in the bathroom when she came in, and her father did not find her either. She watched between the cracks in the cabinet as her father murdered her mother. There was a lot of blood in the bath tub. Alaric saw it too. but he was in the doorway, and their father did find him. So he fixed Alaric’s memory.
She knew better than to mention their mother’s death to Thomas. Since he didn’t see Aubrey, he did not fix her memory. Their father cleaned up the blood. Everyone said her mother ran off with a muggle lover. And Alaric did not believe Aubrey when she tried to remind him what happened. This was quite distressing for Aubrey. But if Alaric thought she imagined it, he must have been right, so she stopped talking about it. After their mother’s death or disappearance, the children were raised by their father, with the assistance of their Maternal Grandparents.
The Gamps made certain that the important lessons of blood purity, how to conduct oneself in society, and the rest of their basic education was covered. Aubrey was given the appropriate for ladies hobby of painting, which she was quite good at. Between the two houses, the children faced a lot of tensions. Never being quite good enough for their grandparents, after their mother had shamed the family so. Aubrey felt fairly certain that there were other women in other bathtubs that her father would rather deal with than she or her brothers. And she was never sure if he just hid them better and she hadn’t seen, if they didn’t exist at all, or her father had fixed her memory like he had fixed Alaric’s.
Despite their less than perfect childhood, Aubrey did not feel particularly abused or neglected. That did not change her relief when she was received her letter for Hogwarts the same year that Alaric did. They were both first years together, though he would be twelve shortly after the school year started and she would only just have turned eleven when they went to the school. Both siblings were sorted into Slytherin, as nearly all the Gamps before them had been. She was pleased with the result.
The second week at Hogwarts, she met her match in Ashby Grayson who rapidly became the only person aside from Alaric in Hogwarts she recognised as worth her time. They became the closest approximation of friends that either of the other had. Each equally mean and vindictive and nearly perfectly twisted. Their relationship became physical the summer between her third and fourth years. She did well in her classes, verbally abused half bloods and muggleborns, and painted in her free time. Over all Hogwarts had not been exceptionally eventful. Just four and a half years of apathy. During her fifth year, she spoke to her grandparents about arranging a match between herself and Daniel Grayson. A match Mrs. Grayson was more than happy to make.
