Year: 2nd
Wand: Hazel wood, 11 inches, phoenix feather, lithe
Bloodline: Pureblood
Birthday: August 21st, 1965
Pet/Familiar: None
Physical Description: Elizabeth has always been a short, scrawny little thing. Some people wonder if she is ever fed enough to eat because she is so skinny. Liz has always had issues with people talking about how skinny she really is, and so often she wears baggy clothes or long sleeves to cover herself up. Another thing people notice about her other than her pencil thin frame is her bushy blonde hair that comes down to the middle of her back in soft waves. Liz has tried to get rid of the frizzy mane, but so far none of her simple charms have worked to tame it for longer than five minutes. She doesnt worry too much on her hair, however. Its usually let down, but during her Potions class she usually has it up in a ponytail so as not to get her hair in the ingrediants.
Just like her older brother, Marius, Lizzy has green eyes but they are much unlike her brothers. Instead, they are full of life and have a small hint of brown in them as well. The time that they really come alive is during her Potions class, which has become her favorite class of all over the course of last year. These eyes of hers are overtaken, however, by her bushy eyebrows. Often than not she is teased by her brother on her looks, but Liz doesnt let it get to her. Instead of worrying about the way she is dressed or her appearance, she spends her time on other things.
Personality Description: When Liz was accepted into Hogwarts as a Slytherin, a lot of people who knew her would have expected for her to be placed in Ravenclaw instead. She is a very studious girl with her head in the books, or rather, a Potion book. Though she has only just begun her schooling, Lizzy has done exceptionally well in most of her subjects and almost always finishes her assignments on time. A lot of kids look at her as a bookworm, but there is more to Elizabeth that meets the eye. For the Sorting Hat to have placed her in Slytherin, Liz certainly has some of the various traits associated with the House. For one thing, she is very determined to get what she wants at all cost. While this may sound selfish, Lizzy really just wants to get away from her father as soon as possible. Her way of doing so means that she will work hard so she can easily get a job anywhere in the wizarding world, and move away from the Belden manor as soon as she graduates.
There is also a bit of a nastier side to Elizabeth, too. When she is provoked by other kids, Liz doesnt just get mad she gets even! This is where her Potions talent comes into play more often than not, but thankfully no one has really seen what type of damage Lizzy can really do. The young girl has managed to make very few enemies thus far, but only because of her quiet nature. When it comes to her friends, though, Lizzy can be the sweetest thing. She is pretty loyal to her friends, and they know they can count on her if the going gets rough. She isnt afraid to speak her mind, she just chooses not too on most occasions. While Elizabeth appears to be a quiet little bushy-haired girl, there is a sly little snake down in there somewhere!
Brief History: Elizabeth Marlene Belden was born the second child to Moira, and Augustin Belden. Her father, Augustin, was from a family of one of the many rather wealthy wizarding citizens in France. He was a Pureblood through and through, and his family wanted it to stay that way. Sadly, over the past years, many of the Purebloods were allowing their lineage to die away, and fade out. There were now more Halfbloods living around France, and for the Beldens this just wouldnt do. Augustins father struck a deal with one of his lifetime friends in London that if his daughter, Moira, was to marry Augustin then the two friends would partner together in his fathers big business. The two were betrothed soon after, and though Moira was only fifteen, a ten years difference between she and Augustin, she was taken out of Hogwarts and married. Moira took this all with her head held high, however, glad to not be living in France; that having been her father's only wish for his daughter. Three years after having married Augustin she gave birth to Marius Jules Belden, who was to be the heir of the Belden fortune.
Marius, being five years older than Elizabeth, made it hard on the girl from a young age. Constantly the two fought, and on several occasions Marius got a little too physical. This was brushed aside by their father, and his reasoning was only because Elizabeth needed to toughen up a bit in order to be considered of the Belden clan. Her mother, however, often argued and fought with Augustin about it. This was never a good thing when she spoke her mind because Augustin had been raised completely different than she had. He was raised to believe that the men of the house were superior to the women, and they had to obey each and every order; his prime example had been his mother, who bent backward to please her husband every chance she got. Having to deal with his wife, Moira was a trickier situation. He would beat her until she had bruises all over her body, but even that didnt break her independent spirit. By the time Elizabeth was six her father had enough of his persistent wife. He threw her out of the manor, and though he could have cared less about Elizabeth being there, he kept the girl with him anyway. No matter how hard she tried to get Lizzy, Augustin held to the girl tightly to keep from allowing his former wife the joys of gaining something she wanted out of the marriage she had with him. It was his way of punishing her for her "wrong doings".
So Elizabeth grew up with a father who ignored her, and a brother who constantly beat her. For a long time she was thought by her father to be mute because she rarely spoke, if at all. When she turned ten years old, Augustin was beginning to believe she was also a Squib since she hadn't shown any signs otherwise. One night after getting drunk off of wine, Augustin kicked Elizabeth out of the manor, saying she could go live in the stables where the horses stayed. He wanted no part in having a Squib for a daughter, and so Elizabeth found herself drenched from the downpour as she found her way to the stables. The next morning, still shivering from her rain-soaked robes, she found herself being taunted by her older brother for being a Squib. After the events that had unfolded the night before, Elizabeth was so infuriated that she caught a bail of hay next to her on fire. This happened to surprise her father, and so he let her back into the manor grudgingly. When she turned eleven she got her acceptance to Hogwarts, and though at first her father laughed at the idea, he thought maybe it would be better if she left. He would have the manor to himself completely during the school months, and it suited him (and his many lovers) just fine.
So Elizabeth was shipped off to Hogwarts with her brother, who since the incident had decided it best to ignore her. It really didn't come as a shock to her when she was sorted into Slytherin; her ambitious nature and determination had out-weighed everything else. Since then, she has worked over the course of the previous year to make good grades. Her idea is that if she makes good enough grades she can graduate and move on to her chosen career with ease, and finally get out from under her fathers care and her brothers constant teasing. Though it was hard for her to go back after her first year of Hogwarts, Elizabeth managed to make it through the summer months with her father and brother; choosing to stay in her room and out of their way at all times. Now that she is headed back to Hogwarts for her second year of schooling, things are beginning to look brighter for the little Belden girl.
Important Relationships:
Augustin Belden ~ Liz and her father dont get along hardly at all. That is, unless he is sober. When sober, Augustin seems to look at her as if she is invisable. When he actually talks to her, it is usually in a way like he just doesnt care. Thankfully, he allows her to live in his house now. Though he shows no real, meaningful love for her, Augustin feeds and cloths her. He also sends her with her nanny to Diagon Alley for school supplies. He says its his only way to get rid of her presence at the manor. Of course, when Augustin is drunk he tends to be a lot more aggressive toward the girl, but recently she hasnt been around much for that to happen.
Marius Belden ~ Like father, like son. Liz and Marius dont get along at all, and during the summer months he tends to tease and mock her a lot. When at school he mostly just pretends she isnt there, but from time to time he teases her or even hits her.
Moira Belden ~ Liz hasnt seen her mother since she was six, but what she remembers of her mother is enough to make Lizzy miss her dearly. Moira was the only one to really care for the child, and she was the sweetest woman Liz has ever known. She even has a picture of her mum hidden away in her truck at the foot of her bed.
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes Potions class, reading books about potions, exploring the library, her friends, her mum, cats, riding her horses back at home, writing, swimming during the cold months, boys, the beach, and Quidditch.
Dislikes Her father, her brother, rude people in general, History of Magic, the summer months at the manor, and dogs.
Loyalties - Personal and Family: At this point Elizabeth could really care either way about supporting a certain side. She is still pretty young, and doesnt really put much thought into it. Her father and brother are hude supporters of purity, though. They often talk bad about Muggles and Muggleborns so Liz hasnt really had a chance to get to know more about the other side of the spectrum.
