"Good afternoon. I hope your lunch time was restful! I have all faith that you will do a fabulous job on your OWLS and that each one of you will prove to have retained all the information that was given to you during the past five years."
So saying, she passed out the exams and let the students get to work:
Please answer one of the following essay questions completely.
1) During the course of your time in Herbology you have studied and learned the properties of various types of plants. Please choose one type of plant we have studied and give the following information about it: the common name and the scientific name; location of the plant; a detailed description of the plant; the most common uses for the plant; precautions that must be taken when using the plant; any information on the illegality of the plant - if there is any.
((Please refer to this textbook to make sure you don't do a plant that is already listed and for inspiration. Feel free to make up a plant; as long as you keep it within reasonable parameters, then it will be accepted.))
2) The care of plants is of vast importance to a wizard or witch. If a plant is taken ill care of it can directly effect the potency of a potion. Please describe, in detail, the care of one of the plants we have used in class this year. Make sure that you include not only the proper care but what can result of improper care. Please include: how often and how much to water; the best type of soil to use; how often and how much and what type of fertilizer to use; how often to repot; how much sun, shade, or moonshine the plant needs; for each of the above, include the harmful effects of too much/too little of the necessary elements.
((You have a few options on how to do this. You can simply choose a plant or create one and go with it, or you could pair up with someone who is doing essay one and describe the care of their plant. Pairing up and answering questions one and two as partners (you would still each do a seperate post with JUST your essay) can gain you extra points; yes, you may each be in a different house.))
OOC Instructions: The essay you write will be used in the textbook sources on the board. You may be asked to edit things if need be for the sake of canon if there are any issues, though, knowing ya'll, I'm sure that won't be an issue. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask! Please post which of the above you would like to do so that only one person covers a topic. You may post just the topic and work on it later, but if you don't have up your essay within a week of posting and someone else wants that topic, it's up for grabs.
