She moved a shadow would, soundless and quickly over the small patches of light that fell on the cobbled roads of the small North Tyneside village, where at this hour the only sounds came from the local pub in the distance and the ocean on the other side. It was not imperative to remain unseen, but she prefered passing through the streets unheard and mostly unseen, sticking to the shadows until she came to the house she was looking for. No need to disturb the peace when the job was faster and more efficiently done without the theatrics that accompanied a lot of their tasks. But if it had been required, it would have been easier than anything to just take the whole village down.
The inhabitants of the tiny village could hardly have known that their friendly neighbourhood chemist, Abraham Tremlyn, was in fact a lesser known, unscrupulous and surprisingly paranoid Potions master who had been kicked out of St. Mungo's for unethical administration of Potions almost fifty years ago. Since then he had lived an unknown life in the small village. Alannah wouldn't have been able to place him, or that he was prone to using Hemlock to dispose of Unicorns before stealing their blood, if not for the knowledge of Potions some of her ... colleagues brought with them to the fold, even if she knew of him in terms of medical history and what not to do when not really trying to poison people at St. Mungo's. But he had made himself useful, brewing all kinds of illicit potions, which explained somewhat the anti-magic wards he had up in strange spots in the villages. She had not Apparated since entering the boundaries. An unaware old sod was easier to befuddle than one who was on his mark, and she didn't want to setoff any stray wards. This was a task that needed stealth, lest Abraham Tremlyn do something... stupid, and swiftness.
The latter of which was going to be impeded by the Auror tracking her.
It didn't have to be a terrible thing, she reflected, philosophically, eyes keen for another, unseen adversary. It could be an added rush, if she played it right. As far as she could spot he was alone, which, at least, evened things out somewhat. He was quick, and would be quicker, she suspected, if she let him know she was aware of him, but for the moment he held his distance. Watching for her next move, hoping probably that she'd lead him to wherever her destination was. Well, it was time to let him know she knew.
An unwarranted sense of excitement claimed her even as she remained as cautious as was possible. But there was something unspeakably intriguing about playing hide and seek; she'd always loved it, and it was same, even if now there were more dangerous stakes involved. She snuck a look around as she melted into the shadow of the nearest house, running swiftly down the alley with the slightest rustle of her robes; when she turned around the corner, she slipped into the tiny space between the standard buildings, and doubled back to the other sideof the building where she'd seen him last. Carefully remaining in the dark, and only dodging back when she was sure he wasn't around, once she was where she intended to be she stopped and stood in the shadows, watching. She had to assume he would know she'd switched her position in the chase, that he was close and capable; but it remained to be seen what he'd do about it. Though she didn't intend to hurt anyone this night, accidents did happen, and misleading someone was the better option.
