Bad things happened to Dani.
That's just the way it was. An unwritten law of the universe. Bad things just happened to her. Of course, she asked for them. She might as well have had a large neon sign inviting the bad things to her, and it was her own damn fault. Because she was stupid, that's why.
Everyone knew you couldn't get pregnant while breastfeeding a baby. That was just absurd. Why would you? You'd just had another baby, and there were all those hormones, no way you were ready to have another baby. Breastfeeding was like natural birth control right?
Apparently, that was wrong, and someone forgot to mention it to Dani.
She thought it had been wedding nerves, or that she'd caught something Rome. But when she'd had Sophia at the doctor's for her three month check up, and ended up throwing up all over the healer's shoes, they'd decided to run some tests on her. Apparently you could be pregnant and breast feeding at the same time. Lucky her. Dani was almost excited about having a baby. But having had complications with Sophia and being this close she was immediately high risk, and that was going to be a pain in the ass. Sean wouldn't let her alone.
But there was a bigger problem, on October 25th she'd been roughly four weeks pregnant. She'd gotten married October 12th, and hadn't slept with her fiancé for a month before the wedding. She had been shagging Nic. Nic who hadn't thought that while fucking his best friend's future wife he ought to use some kind of protection. What an idiot. At least Dani had reasonably thought she was being safe. She thought wrong, but she put in a small amount of effort towards not winding up with baby number two from father number two.
And she wasn't sure how to tell her husband or the baby's father that she was pregnant. What she did know was it would be incredibly stupid to tell Sean that she was having someone else's kid. He'd probably be really pissed off. So that part was out. This new baby was a honeymoon baby. That's what she'd tell him. They'd both been too wrapped up in the whole marriage romance thing to be thinking about not getting pregnant again. From now on, she was not going to think about birth control she was going to do something that was guaranteed to work. She'd ask her mother, or Mrs. Abernathy how not to get pregnant. After this baby, they'd take a break from offspring producing and enjoy their daughter and the new baby. Of course Sean wasn't this baby's father, but… he and Nic looked enough alike, that he'd probably never tell.
So she was in the spare bedroom next to Sophia's sitting on the sheet covered bed, looking at the rest of the sheet covered furniture and the little squares of color she'd taped to the wall. Sophia was asleep in her bed. Dani was trying to pick a color for a new nursery. Sophia was bigger than this baby, she'd be almost a year, it only made since that each baby would have their own nursery.
There was some noise in the hall way. "Sean!"She called quietly, as the baby was sleeping. "Sean, I'm in here! I need you to help me pick
out colors." She smiled and kissed her husband, as she met him at the door. Then drug him off to look at the squares on the wall. "I think that maybe
blue would be nice. Sophia's nursery is green, so we could paint her nursery pink now that we know she's a girl and then this one green. But this shade
of blue here." She pointed at one of the squares. "This one would be nice for a nursery don't you think?"
