Occupation: Professional Football Player - currently playing for Chelsea as a wide midfielder.
Birthday: November 1, 1956
Physical Description: Years spent on the pitch have given the 6'0 Darby a well toned and flexible body. He keeps his brown hair long enough to just brush his shoulders and refuses to cut it no matter how often his mum lifts a brow at him. He keeps the hair on his face shaved just often enough that he almost always seems to have a two day growth on his face. He views the world through his laughing brown eyes and smirks often at the world about him - though in a good humored way.
Personality Description: Darby is a highly laid-back and relaxed kind of a soul. To some degree he can be viewed as terribly lazy, though only when he is off the pitch. He's not much of one to do much about things like basic cleaning in his flat or even getting his laundry done - outside of his kits. He's the kind of guy who'll sort through the piles of clothing on the floor until he finds the shirt that looks and smells the cleanest. He's a damn good friend willing to stick by his friends to the very bitter end.
Education is an important thing to him, though he didn't go on to University after graduating from secondary school. Had he not recieved an invitation to play for Tottenham, it's more than likely he'd have moved along the education path much further. He has no regrets about it, however, seeing as he's currently playing for Arsenal.
Brief History: Born to Muggles Kevin and Diane Rheese in 1956, Darby is their youngest son and as Muggle as they are. His elder sister, Karina, is the witch in the family and Darby couldn't be more in thrall with her if he tried. From the time he was old enough to crawl, he trailed her about the place and, for her part, she coddled him. He was six when she left for Hogwarts and though it was hard for him to be without his Ri-Ri, he did well enough.
What was truly hard for him was his mother's violent reaction to his sister's magic status. He found the whole thing fascinating, much like his father, and as he grew older and grew to understand just what his mum's view he found it hard to want to be around the judgemental woman. And yet, her complete support of him isn't something he can turn his back on.
He was introduced to what would become an obssession for him when he was four: football.
Once Karina left, he got completely wrapped up into the world of football and he got on his parents case to take him to Arsenal so he could join the teams they put together for young kids. By the time he was nine, he was good enough that he was given a place in the Academy. Between practices, games and school, he was very busy.
Once he was 16, he had proven himself to the point where he was put into the Youth Training Scheme and from there he progressed at a rapid rate in his skills gaining the attention of a few clubs when he turned 18. After playing a stint for Tottenham, Arsenal showed enough interest to sway him to join their club.
Important Relationships:
Karina Rheese: The most important relationship in his life thus far. He loves his sister and would go to the end of the world for her if she but asked. It hurts him deeply that she has to deal with their mum's prejudice, but he is proud of how strong his sister has become in in the face of it.
Cody, Nigel and Blake: His cronies for as long back as he can recall. The three fancy themselves a band of some sort and really they aren't doing such a bad job anymore.
Jeremy: Darby's roommate and one of his best friends. Jeremy plays drums in the band with Cody, Nigel and Blake.
Kevin Rheese: His father and the man is insanely proud of his son, even if he isn't overly thrilled to have his son on Tottenham being an Arsenal fan himself. Still, he is pleased as punch that his son has lived out his dream to the extent he has.
Diane Rheese: His mum. She is proud of her boy and attends every game that she possibly can.
Elle Drake: He met the dark-haired witch at a party over the previous summer. He is completely unaware that Elle is a witch. Though things had gone well with them over the summer, he felt the need to call things off with her because he found that he wasn't focusing as much on football as he needed. He still thinks about her and has traded letters with her a few times. However, things between them fell apart when she dropped out of school and then disappeared entirely.
Athena Sterling: He met the tough woman when she was moving into Lowell and was intrigued almost instantly by her. It took them time, but the two have been dating for over a year now and he has, unequivocally, fallen in love with her. If it were up to him, they would be married and already starting a family, but it's not as she is a stubborn witch. That only makes him love her all the more.
Likes: football (that goes without saying, doesn't it?); lazing about when he can; twilight; barbeques; waffles; unsigned bands; heading out to the local club scene.
Dislikes: prejudice in any form; pulp in his orange juice; noodles.
Strengths/Weaknesses: He has an incredible focus and drive to succeed in anything he puts his heart into whether it be something as simple as attempting to cook (which he can not do to save his life - he's even burnt mac and cheese) or getting a goal on the pitch. He's a good sport and, unlike a few of his teammates, he's never been known to show a temper when losing a match. Rather he's been known to genuinely congratulate the other team. However, he has his glaring weaknesses, one of the most notable being his utter laziness which results in a very messy flat.
Previous Quote Sigs:
The first ninety minutes of a footie match are the most important.
I don't wanna be old and sleep alone,
An empty house is not a home,
I don't wanna be old and feel afraid.
